Disaster Relief Summit – Call for Participants
Disaster relief summit to address the world’s increasing need of more efficient disaster response
30th July, London – NGOs, UN agencies, Governments, Military & Defence representatives, and private sector experts will gather in Washington D.C. to discuss the best practices and collaborations for effective disaster relief.
Recently, natural and man-made disasters have occurred in different parts of the world, spanning from the Philippines, Middle East to South Sudan. These events have brought devastating effects to communities and created an urgent necessity for humanitarian aid to help people rebuild their lives.
Now more than ever governments, military & defence units, NGOs, UN agencies, media and the private sector must work together to provide much needed disaster relief. Especially with disasters becoming more complex and unpredictable, how can stakeholders coordinate their efforts, and ensure fast and effective delivery of goods, funds and expertise? How can they make the most out of modern technologies and information networks and gain a better understanding of the disaster situation and communicate more efficiently with each other? How can they ensure safety of everyone involved in the field?
The 6th Annual AIDF Disaster Relief Summit aims to help answer these questions on the 19th-20th November 2014 in Washington D.C. at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre.
The summit will bring together leading experts from NGOs, UN agencies, government, local authorities, military & defence and the private sector to discuss latest trends and lessons learnt in disaster relief – featuring key speakers from the American Red Cross, Oxfam, Save the Children, UNDP, UNICEF, UNOCHA, USAID, WFP, World Vision and many more. Notable speakers will share their knowledge and expertise on the best methods in logistics and transport, innovations in emergency water supply and ICT solutions for disaster relief.
The AIDF Disaster Relief Summit, organized by the Aid & International Development Forum in partnership with Amzco, Clements Worldwide, International Green Structures, Karcher Futuretech, Navistar, Sun-Stat, and Thuraya, will provide a platform for relief stakeholders to engage with the private sector and discover the latest innovations, services and technologies to assist in better disaster response and coordination.
The focus of the event includes key areas which are fundamental to the success of providing effective disaster relief to those who are in need. As an organization AIDF aims contribute by helping to build better networks and strong partnerships.
We hope to see you in Washington very soon. Additional information about the conference can be found on http://disaster-relief.aidforum.org/.
